Opportunity

Upstream Tech is a technology company that uses satellites and machine learning to help organizations manage and monitor natural resources. We are growing quickly and building out our team and operations.

You will wear many hats in this role: supporting customer invoicing and payment processes, leading recruiting efforts, coordinating with company leadership for efficient operations, and more.

The right candidate is driven by our mission, is highly organized and an excellent communicator, has knowledge of energy and environmental issues, and should demonstrate excellent independent work ethic and a desire to work closely with a driven, remote team.

Role

As a member of our Operations team, this individual will play a key role in shaping, driving, and implementing efficient operations across the team as we scale. This person will report to our Head of Growth & Operations.

Responsibilities

Business operations:

  • Manage invoicing and payments processes, ensuring invoices are issued and paid on time

  • Support grants administration and reporting

  • Manage procurement paperwork and processes for enterprise customers

  • Track progress toward milestones and impact goals across the team

  • Managing contractor paperwork and processes (ex: state agencies)

  • Administrative and scheduling support for company leadership

  • Participate in conferences and externally-facing business events

Company operations:

  • Support recruiting processes, including conducting research and outreach

  • Onboarding support, account setup, as well as offboarding

  • Manage our internal processes / documentation / knowledge management as we grow

  • Fostering opportunities for cross-team learning and bonding (including retreat planning & coordination)

  • Coordinate professional development and training opportunities

  • Coordinate bi-annual performance reviews

Preferred qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant field (e.g., business, environmental management, data science, engineering, energy).

  • 2+ years work experience, ideally in an operations role.

  • Familiarity with energy and environmental issues and enthusiasm for our environmental mission.

  • Experience with and comfort working with technology applications.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Self-starter with strong attention to detail.

  • Located in the United States.

Location

Remote. We conduct business using technologies like Slack and video conferencing. We get together for an annual in-person trip to work, bond, and celebrate our successes. We are looking for someone with flexibility to travel for conferences ~5-10% of the time on an as-needed basis.
