Role
Upstream Tech has an exciting opportunity for a Corporate Controller. This role will be involved in both corporate and product focused accounting and will report to our Chief Financial Officer. This position will give you international exposure.
The right candidate is driven by our mission, has six or more years of experience, a CPA, and experience in public accounting, software, and/or other tech companies.
Responsibilities
Coordinate and execute all of the month-end, quarterly and year-end closing.
Reconcile accounts monthly to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance.
Review transaction coding and financial statements for accuracy, legal compliance, and alignment to budgeted expense coding.
Conduct cash and multi-year financial planning.
Serve as internal lead for annual financial audit and grants audit.
Lead all AR and AP functions under the NetSuite services platform or comparable accounting platform (Quickbooks, Zero, etc.)
Collaborate with leadership to assess and make important financial decisions.
Prepare financial documents such as business reports, financial forecasts, and statements to understand the financial state of the business.
Maintain up to date knowledge on the financial market to understand how to maximize profits and find new expansion areas.
Prepare the company financials according to US GAAP standards to meet legal requirements and keep the financial state of the company in good standing
Ensure the company complies with financial regulations.
Track SaaS Key Performance Metrics and provide analysis to the Upstream management team.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in Economics, Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance from an accredited college or university in a work-related discipline or field. A Master's Degree (M.A.) in Accounting is a plus.
Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
A minimum of six years professional experience in Accounting.
Strong understanding of federal, state, and local tax regulations, and working knowledge of international finance.
Working knowledge of SaaS Accounting.
Comfortable with technology platforms such as, but not limited to: Oracle NetSuite, Stripe, and Quickbooks. Proficiency in Hubspot is a plus.
Proficiency with financial analytics & scores, and management forecasts is mandatory.
Industry experience in software or technology businesses is preferred.
Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to cultivate and maintain relationships at all levels.
Annual Internal Audit experience preferred.
Comfortable working with a fully remote, tech-driven team in a changing and very dynamic start-up like environment.

Compensation & Benefits
Starting pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, market location, business needs, other compensation components, and/or market demands. The starting base salary range for this role is $100-$150K. This range may be modified in the future.
