Upstream Tech is a climate technology company that uses satellites and machine learning to help organizations manage and monitor natural resources. We have two Software as a Service products, Lens and HydroForecast.

Role

We’re looking for a Finance Manager who will be responsible for managing all financial and accounting activities within the company.

Responsibilities

• Manage all aspects of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable

• Manage monthly bookkeeping and close, with a focus on revenue recognition, personnel expenses, commission accruals, etc.

• Prepare and analyze detailed management reports, including profit and loss, balance sheet, and cash flow statements.

• Prepare monthly and quarterly variance analysis and identify key drivers affecting financial performance.

• Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly, and annual tax filings as it pertains to sales tax and VAT.

• Monitor, update and report on Key performance indicators (KPIs) on a monthly basis.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline financial processes and improve reporting accuracy.

• Assist in building and maintaining incentive compensation models

• Assist in audit and tax preparation

• Assist in business filings and record maintenance

• Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as requested.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting

• 5-7 years of progressive experience in Accounting

• Advanced Google Suite experience, especially in Google Sheets

• 3+ years of experience using Stripe and Quickbooks

• Hubspot experience - highly preferred

• SaaS startup experience - highly preferred

• General understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Location 

Remote. We conduct business using technologies like Slack and video conferencing. We hold an annual in-person trip to work, bond, and celebrate our successes.

Compensation & Benefits

Starting pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include job-related knowledge, skills, experience, market location, business needs, other compensation components, and/or market demands. The starting base salary for this role is  $95,000.

This role will be eligible for a performance incentive bonus related to individual and company performance, as well as an equity grant in the form of options.
