Account Executive: Federal Agencies & Water Utilities (HydroForecast)

Opportunity

Upstream Tech builds software for making decisions about the planet. We are looking for a talented team member to expand the reach and impact of our HydroForecast software product. HydroForecast is a global water forecast solution powered by Artificial Intelligence.  Upstream Tech is currently working Internationally with a number of industry leading customers in the HydroPower and Water Utilities space.  

We are seeking an  experienced and driven sales professional to help grow HydroForecast’s footprint within the US Federal government as well within Water Agencies across North America. We are interested in candidates who have had success selling to Government Agencies, are experienced in navigating complex organizational structures with multi-stakeholder sales cycles, and who are excited to build and grow business in new markets. 

The right candidate is driven by our mission, has SaaS sales experience, has experience prospecting into and closing Enterprise business, has an understanding of energy utilities and/or water issues, and should demonstrate excellent independent work ethic and a desire to work closely with a driven and a geographically diverse “remote-first” team. 

Role

You will own a book of business, with a strong existing pipeline, and you will drive the sales and growth of HydroForecast in that book of business while also generating new opportunities on your own and in partnership with HydroForecast’s Marketing team and subject matter experts. We are open to strong candidates at different stages of career progression.

Responsibilities

  • Generate and qualify leads in existing as well as in expansion markets. 

  • Book and lead initial sales conversations.

  • Engage with customers in new markets and track industry trends; and provide regular feedback and input to both the product and commercial teams to inform product development and financial forecasts

  • Some travel to conferences and sales meetings. Most presentations will be remote video presentations and phone meetings.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant field

  • Industry knowledge, connections and experience in Federal government agencies, hydropower, the utility industry, or renewable energy, or water more broadly. 

  • Proven sales experience: 4+ years work experience in sales and business development, ideally with SaaS products. 

  • Experience closing large, complex deals, all the way through contracting.  

  • Experience with and comfort working with technology applications.

  • Located in a United States and/or Canada. 

  • US work authorization.

Compensation & Benefits

Starting pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, market location, business needs, other compensation components, and/or market demands. This range may be modified in the future. The starting base salary range for this role is between $100,000 - $130,000 plus commission.

Location 

Remote. We conduct business using technologies like Slack and video conferencing. We do an annual in-person trip to work, bond, and celebrate our successes.

Travel. We are looking for someone with flexibility to travel for meetings and conferences on an as-needed basis.
