Upstream Tech is a technology company that builds software products to accelerate the pace, scale and impact of conservation, restoration and a renewable grid. We are looking for software engineers who want to use their skills to fight climate change and protect the environment.


We are hiring a frontend-focused software engineer to join the Lens team. Lens is a remote monitoring application the empowers organizations to monitor and report on millions of acres of conserved and restored land. We are looking for a mid-to-senior software engineer to join the team and accelerate our pace of development.


In this role, you will collaborate with teammates to design and build applications for stakeholders in conservation, agriculture, and restoration. We’re looking for candidates with a track record of building data-centric applications that emphasize usability and stability.

This work is critical to the success of Upstream Tech and our continued commitment to our environmental mission. Our climate and conservation impact scales with our systems.

You’d be a great fit if

  • You have have three or more years of experience developing web-based applications.

  • You’ve maintained and improved an application with an active user base in collaboration with a team of other engineers.

  • You have experience with frontend technologies such as React and Typescript.

  • You’re interested in UX, solving complex geospatial problems, and exploring new problem areas.

  • You have excellent communication skills and want to share your expertise through mentorship, pair programming, and code reviews.

  • You are excited to introduce new patterns and improve work processes to make your team happy and efficient.

  • You’re pragmatic, solutions-oriented, and want to get things done without sacrificing quality.

  • You are humble and have empathy for customers and teammates.

  • You believe that giving and receiving honest and direct feedback helps everyone to grow.
