Upstream Tech has significant market momentum and is backed by Hull Street Energy, ENGIE New Ventures, Japan Energy Fund, Breakthrough Energy Ventures, and more. We are currently working with dozens of industry-leading customers and are looking to land more new logos and grow our work with existing customers — particularly as we expand HydroForecast into new and emerging markets and use cases.
We are seeking a driven sales professional with a high degree of intellectual capacity and self-awareness to help grow HydroForecast’s customer and revenue base within North American customers. This individual will inherit a strong book and pipeline and be responsible for executing and expanding across these accounts.
We are interested in candidates who understand how to sell business value and solutions, help craft and deliver strong business cases, and are excited to build and grow our business in existing and new markets.
The right candidate is driven by our mission, has SaaS sales experience, has experience prospecting into and closing enterprise business, and has an understanding of energy markets, energy utilities, water, and/or adjacent infrastructure markets. They should demonstrate excellent independent work ethic and a desire to work closely with a driven, geographically diverse, remote-first team.
Role
As an Account Executive, you will own a book of business focused on our core North American hydropower market, as well as new and developing markets and use cases for HydroForecast. You will help prove demand, establish early customer traction, and inform how HydroForecast scales commercial coverage as these markets mature.
We are open to strong candidates at different stages of career progression.
Responsibilities
Generate and qualify leads in our core North American hydropower market.
Book and lead initial sales conversations, discovery calls, and deal cycles through close.
Develop and own net-new logo opportunities and early expansion opportunities.
Develop opportunities in expansion markets (e.g., energy trading, navigation/shipping, and other adjacent markets).
Engage with customers in new markets, track industry trends, and provide regular feedback to product and commercial teams to inform product development, go-to-market strategy, and financial forecasts.
Represent Upstream Tech at conferences and industry events; most presentations will be conducted via remote video meetings and phone calls.
Preferred Qualifications
Undergraduate degree in a relevant field.
Industry knowledge, connections, or experience in one or more of the following:
Energy markets (including energy trading)
Utilities, hydropower, or renewable energy
Navigation, shipping, or maritime infrastructure
Water resources or climate-related markets
Proven sales experience: 3+ years of experience in a quota-carrying sales role, ideally selling SaaS products and/or to energy utilities.
Track record managing sales into complex organizations end-to-end.
Comfort working with technology applications and data-driven products.
Work location: United States (preferred) or Canada.
US work authorization.
